If you’ve ever wanted to take a solo trip but didn’t want it to feel overwhelming or lonely… this is exactly the kind of trip I just did.
I spent a week between Greenville, SC and Charleston, SC, and it ended up being the perfect mix of:
- relaxing
- exploring
- good food
- and actually enjoying time alone without feeling bored
This is a realistic itinerary — not packed, not stressful, and very doable if you’re traveling solo.
✈️ Overview of the Trip
- Days 1–3: Greenville, SC
- Days 4–7: Charleston, SC
- Vibe: Slow mornings, walkable areas, good food, little adventures
🌿 Days 1–3: Greenville, SC (Peaceful + Walkable)

Greenville is honestly one of the best solo travel spots if you want something calm but not boring.
Where I stayed:
- Downtown (walking distance is EVERYTHING here)
What I did:
☕ Morning routine (my favorite part)
- Walk to Falls Park on the Reedy (non-negotiable)
- Coffee + slow morning (M. Judson or anywhere nearby)
🚶♀️ Daytime
- Walk the Swamp Rabbit Trail
- Browse cute shops downtown
- Sit outside and just… exist (highly recommend lol)
🍦 Little treats
- Yogurt Mountain (yes, I went… more than once)
- Random coffee stops
🚲 Optional but fun
- Rent a bike near Swamp Rabbit Café
Why I loved Greenville:
- Super safe feeling alone
- Everything is walkable
- It doesn’t feel overwhelming
🌴 Days 4–7: Charleston, SC (More to Do + More Energy)

Charleston is more “activity-based” but still perfect solo if you plan it right.
Where I stayed:
- West Ashley (more affordable, short drive to everything)
Day 4: Travel + Easy Exploring
- Arrive early (I got there before check-in)
- Walk around downtown
- Grab lunch + just explore
👉 Keep this day LIGHT — you’ll be tired
Day 5: Classic Charleston Day
- Rainbow Row
- Pineapple Fountain
- Walk the historic district
Optional:
- Carriage ride (touristy but honestly worth it once)
Day 6: Nature + Unique Stops
- Angel Oak Tree (SO worth it)
- Visit a plantation (for history + scenery)
- Chill afternoon (coffee, shopping, or hotel reset)
Day 7: Beach Day
- Pick a less crowded beach (worth the extra few minutes)
- Relax, walk, decompress before heading home
🍽️ Food Strategy (Solo-Friendly)
This made a BIG difference for me:
- Breakfast: light + coffee
- Lunch: something good while out
- Dinner:
👉 either a cute spot OR
👉 takeout + relax at Airbnb
Some nights I just DoorDashed and watched something… and honestly? Loved it.
